The Waza Flo beat the Milwaukee Wave 5-4 to improve to 3-3 on the season.
Flint, MI – On Saturday, the Waza Flo defeated the Milwaukee Wave 5-4 in a back-and-forth battle. While it was the home team that took home the victory, it was the Wave that were able to get on the board first off the foot of Marcio Leite. The lead did not last long as defender Zane Polack evened up the affair a minute later.
The Flo started the second quarter on a hot streak as Ricardo Lopes and Danny Dragoi scored 27 seconds apart to take 3-1 lead. Milwaukee’s Drew Ruggles added a late goal and the Waza Flo took a 3-2 lead into the half.
Milwaukee opened up the scoring in the second half as talented striker Ian Bennett knotted the score up just 27 seconds into the half. Midway through the third Polack added his second goal of the game to give the Flo a one goal advantage heading into the final frame. Once again Ian Bennett found the back of the net early on a power play to tie the game up early on in the fourth. With less than five minutes remaining and on a power play Costea Decu added the final goal of the game to lead the Waza Flo to a 5-4 victory in Flint.
Of note in the game, rookie midfielder Joey Tinnion, who was signed earlier in the week, tallied an assist in his MASL debut. While he may not have scored a goal, Flo keeper Rafael Dias was the undoubted Man of the Match as he recorded a season high 28 saves on 32 shots against. The Flo were able to withstand the offensive fury to earn their 3rd win of the season and move to 3-3 on the season.
